A Quick Overview

From ancient times to today, tattooing reflects all aspects of society. The neglected and stigmatized art of tattooing is prevalent in most, if not all, civilizations around the world. Steve Gilbert's own, Tattoo History: A Source Book, is an illustrated record of tattooing from ancient times to present. The extensive history of tattooing is revealed and appeals to the general reader all the way to a historian. This book illuminates the rich history of tattooing and reforms the readers' views of this neglected art. Steve Gilbert's, Tattoo History: A Source Book, shows the rich visual history of tattoos as well as explaining the emotional, social, and cultural significance.
