The Importance of Tattooing

The Importance of Tattooing

The importance of tattooing is seen through many cultures. It can give information on the past, present, and the future. Globalization and modernization are seen in the art of tattoos. Often, tattoos tell a story and the story of modernization and globalization is not exempt. In addition to this, the lack of traditional tattoos and new styles have shown how modernization influences cultures. Tattooing flows through every culture and the way that people continue to carry traditional techniques shows that tattoos are a connect people to their ancestors. In England, many British Navy officers had traditional Japanese tattoos. This allowed for exposure to other cultures and other cultures’ art and letting cross-culture interactions occur. Tattooing allows unique relationships between the tattoo artist and the recipient, this is true for tattoo artists from other cultures as well. In tattoos, you can see the mix of cultures and this gives insight into the relationship between the two cultures. British Naval officers having traditional Japanese tattoos explained that the British were in Japan. This instance of tattooing showing historical events is not rare. Many tattoos are of something that means something extremely meaningful to them and for many people that is a historical event or a personal event. The lost of traditional tattooing methods shows modernization as well. The interactions between cultures are often seen in tattoos showing globalization.
